Irish Folk Songs
Tonight is the spring Pops concert that I am singing in. The songs I will be performing are a set of Irish folk songs for tenor and concert band. Deiren De, Jug of Punch, The Beggerman, and of course, Danny Boy. These songs are fun to sing but they present a very different issue then the type of arias I usually perform. Danny Boy is about the closest one there is, very melodic, nice lines, a few A's. Beggerman is a different story. This song is all eigth notes in a "brisk two". Alone I could handle that, it is when each note is a different word and the line jumps up through my passagio multiple times. Italian words are easy to manage in a situation like that, English, not so much. This has been causing the problem where I open notes that should be covered and by the end of the song I am exausted. After working hard on it and getting my voice in top condition, I am sure tonight will go fine. If you are around it is at 7:30 in the A.J. Chapel at Gordon College.

After the Irish song set I will be narrating Aesop's fables with the band as well, it will be quite interesting!
