Christmas Time is Here
Christmas time is now upon us. In a season that singers notoriously are driving from Messiah to Messiah with various concerts in between, I find myself with no engagements. It is a wonderful thing to finally have a break and not have worry about rehearsals and practicing. I can actually get back to a steady practice schedule to work on technique and some other rep. This month I intend on working my voice back into peak shape with proper rest and practice, two things that I have not enjoyed recently.

Rigoletto came and went with only a few minor hiccups. The major ones included the divo chorus tenor who demanded his own dressing room which was only slightly superseded by me taking a dive on stage and spraining my ankle in the first act. Performing the second act that night was very interesting. I found a very nice review of the show here. All of the principle singers were amazing vocalists and great people. I would be blessed to work with any of them again.

I have a few concerts lined up in the spring, most notably the concert of Puccini arias with Lakes Region Opera in February. However, the rest of this month will be devoted to practice, rest and family. I hope you all have a great Christmas holiday. For those of you who do not celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays to you and your family. Go attend a concert instead of singing, give yourselves a well deserved rest!
